How we got the idea
Once my friends and I were talking about how our parents fed us as children. My wife Julia was a picky child and not a good eater. But one day grandmother told her that there is a mysterious picture on the bottom of a plate, and Julia ate all the porridge to look at it. Unfortunately this method worked only once or twice because the picture remained the same. And I had the idea to make a plate with changeable pictures.

Research
Research confirms that the problem of food neophobia is widespread among children 2-7 years old. Approximately 38% of children of this age are picky eaters and regularly resist feeding. One of the reason to this resistance is food neophobia. However small rewards help to overcome rejection of new food. Variable pictures on the bottom of the plate can become such small reward for a child, picking her interest and motivation to eat.
Changing child’s food preferences is a long process. It often takes 8-10 tries to make a child tolerable with a new flavor. That’s why a collection of 20 pictures will be included in each Picnik package.
New picture collections
Also parents will have an opportunity to buy new picture collections according to their child’s age and likes. For example one may choose pictures of animals for the youngest, educational pictures and images about human values (what is love, what is friendship) for older children. Besides, parents will be able to create their own picture sets on Picnik web site.
